Casa Larga Holiday Tasting
December 1, 2023 @ 11:00 am - December 30, 2023 @ 6:00 pm
$22Two of Casa Larga’s most popular holiday wines, Port and Celebriamo are paired with two of Italy’s favorite cookies, Biscotti and Pizzelle for the month of December.
The Port is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Dechaunac, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. The wine is infused with a Cabernet Franc brandy and then was aged for 12 months in Black Button Distilling bourbon barrels. The ruby port wine has deep stone fruit flavors and citrus notes. All bottles will be hand-numbered and sealed with a hand-dipped wax finish.
The Celebriamo is prosecco-style sparkling wine and perfection with anise Pizzelles.
Pizzelle first appeared in Abruzzo and is a small, flat round cookie. A golf ball-sized piece of the Pizzelle dough is pressed between two iron plates and cooked until the pizzella is slightly crisp. Pizzelle is versatile too, when warm it can be shaped into an ice cream cone or wrapped around a tube and it becomes the crisp cannoli outer shell. The pizzella dough can be flavored with anise or vanilla, almond or lemon. Biscotti, the plural of Biscotto, originated from the medieval Latin word Biscotus meaning twice baked. Biscotti originated in the Tuscan city of Prato. The traditional Biscotti recipe does not include yeast or fat. The dough is cooked twice, first in a slab and again after being cut into sliced form. The finished Biscotti should be dry and hard, perfect for dunking! Pine nuts are a common additive.
